Write Every Day Writing Prompt

Describe a series of events to a friend in your day.

Voice of a young girl, 100 years ago.

After school I had to help ma by picking up the cloths off the line and bring them in before helping her with preparing the potatoes for dinner. I had brought home my needlework we had been given at school; I can show you if you like? It's just a few flowers on this cloth for ma but next week we're learning to make dresses.

Voice of an elderly man, today.

The hospice nurse came in today after breakfast to check in on me to make sure I was doing my daily exercises and do a health check. I keep telling everyone "I'm fine", I didn't eat a lot of breakfast this morning but I wasn't hungry and my chest hurt a little. The nurse is concerned about my heart and sent in a doctor to check on me too. I don't like the fuss over me and am generally just tired. I wouldn't mind a nap before lunch before the doctor comes and changes everything. Please stop fussing over me, I'm fine and just need a rest.

In your own voice, let imagination fly.

I went and looked at wardrobes today, the lady at the shop apologised as we couldn't find the key for a cabinet we purchased. I felt bad but a single key appeared in a cupboard I opened at the shop and curiosity got the better of me. So I took it home in the hopes that maybe, just maybe I guessed right. I think this key is the one I as looking for. There has to be a reason it appeared before me. The clock in the centre of the room was chiming as I picked up the key and the room felt fuzzy. As I close my eyes when I rest my head upon the pillows that night I hear the distant sound of a grandfather clock ticking. I just know as I smile in my sleep that it's magic and I had found the key. Or had the key found me?

Just a Small Poem

Sadness and loneliness combine into one,

feeling so alone I'm coming undone.

Surrounded by family there are no friends,

When I'm with people I just play pretend.
