Went on a bit of a road trip down to Hastings New Zealand last week, it was kinda fun kinda not. I get car sick so that doesn't help it become fun at all.
We were up at 430am and were back home by 6.30/5pm.
Sadly I went down there as support with my dad for a funeral, it took us longer than planned to get to Hastings as there were heaps of road works so we had to drop to 30k from doing 100k and 80k. We stopped in a town in Waikato called Tirau for breakfast. What's really cool about Tirau is there are buildings of a dog, sheep and ram all made out of tin with a shepherd next to them. Most of the shop signs and even the school sign are made out of tin.
We ended up being late to the funeral and didn't stay that long.
Dad even accidentally drove through Napier thinking we were in Hastings which didn't help our timing. We had lunch in Taupo next to the lake which was nice, it was like summer had came early which of cause it has.
Dad made a mistake in thinking we could drive all the way down to Hastings and back again in one day as he pretty much fell asleep at the wheel on the way home, luckily we were ok as he didn't crash. We even stopped at Tarawera and took photos of Opoto Falls Scenic Reserve as a breather from being in the car and because I just love taking photos of water. It was so hot I actually felt like swimming.
I can't wait to get back out on the water again, it's my favourite thing about summer. I really wish I could drive cause then I could go to so many places and could go kayaking which I really want to do.
